#ServicesNotSurveillance: A Campaign to Abolish National Security in the Mental Health Field

Original_Copy.jpg

Vigilant Love’s #ServicesNotSurveillance (#SNS) campaign addresses the racialized profiling and surveillance of Muslim patients in therapy, social work, school counseling, and other related spaces funded by the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Targeted Violence and Terrorism Prevention (TVTP) program, a rebranding of the Obama-era Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) program.

In 2022 and beyond, Vigilant Love and our partners will be organizing to shift TVTP and other national security funds away from the Los Angeles Police Department and increase funding for de-carcerated and de-securitized mental health resources that support the healing and wellbeing of impacted Angelenos.

#ServicesNotSurveillance is an abolitionist campaign, ultimately organizing toward the abolition of police, prisons, and the national security apparatus.
