Solidarity Arts Fellowship reflection
Throughout this journey I have felt a deep spiritual awakening that has revitalized a lot of the hope that had burnt out during this pandemic. I’ve learned to appreciate the stories of my peers, my ancestors, but most importantly the stories that define my purpose as a leader. Being a solidarity arts fellow has given me a newfound family filled with beautiful souls who are dedicated to advancing the wellbeing of our collective community. From start to finish I have learned to take time for myself for self-love, while also honing my deep gratitude for those who have paved this quest for justice before me.
Object of resilience
My object of resilience is a book titled Purification of the Heart. This was given to me by my mother and has served as my moral compass in this life. In accordance with Islam this book echoes the mannerisms of kindness, love, and positivity that we all should strive to maintain. Over the years I have annotated this book at countless points to highlight lessons and stories as I will pass this down to my children in the future!
